Merry Christmas tumblr! Now that he has broken into your house, given children gifts, and stolen all your baked goods, learn about the history of Santa Claus in the new Laughing Historically!
There is no adaptation of A Christmas Carol more magical than Patrick Stewart’s abridged one man show audio book (muppets excluded because it is something else entirely different). In less than two hours, Patrick Stewart gives the performance of a lifetime, playing every character/sound effect/song in different voices, and putting every ounce of his being in the read. I highly recommend a listen, I guarantee you get sucked in.
Did you miss our very super special Christmas episode of Laughing Historically, The True Story of Santa Claus? Its great for all religions, agnostics, and atheists too. Laugh at just how ridiculously insane and pagan the history of Christianity’s favorite fat guy really is. Watch and tell your friends…
In this special new Christmas episode of Laughing Historically, we get to the bottom of the origins of Santa Claus and its stranger than you ever imagined. Hopefully we didn’t end up on the naughty list. These are facts, you can’t make this stuff up.
“Another Catalonian [Christmas] tradition is the Caganer, a Christmas statue found in nativity scenes in Andorra and parts of Spain, Italy, and Portugal. The scenes depict the entire town of Bethlehem, and the Caganer is usually tucked away in a corner, far from Mary and Joseph. The Caganer needs privacy, because he is defecating. Caganers have been used for at least a couple hundred years. You can even buy Caganers that resemble modern-day celebrities.”
Last night’s SNL was the best it has been in years. If they could somehow bottle that and do it every week, they would be back in the glory days. Plus, they made my holiday season by bringing back one of my favorite moments in the show’s history.
So, now a new season’s greeting from Saturday night live….
Don’t tell anyone, but the full unedited version of A Muppet Family Christmas is on YouTube. I had a recorded VHS copy of this as a child and my brother and I wore it out from watching it. It still mostly holds up and I think the only time the entire Muppet, Sesame Street, and Fraggle cast appear together.
